re: Aaine, lvl 85 fire mage, Raiding - ACCEPTED

Questions for all applicants:

1. What is your name, age and location?
My name is Frida, I am 17 and live in Sweden.

2. What is your characters name, level, class, spec and professions? Also list any alt's (please provide us with a link to your armoury.)
My main character's name is Aaine, a mage lvl 85. Enchanter and Tailorer. I have 6 lvl 85's so I will only list those as my alts. With the names; Glynda, Miriah, Ewen, Chrisani and Thayreen.

3. Why are you applying to Forsaken Enlightenment and what are your expectations from the guild?
My old guild got disbanded at the start of Cata. Joined a few friends to make a new one which also in the end got disbanded. I miss raiding a lot and I would like to experience that again. I spoke to Chaz, my friend and also a member in the guild. I really would like to be a part of a raiding team again.

4. Do you know any current Guild member and how did you hear about us?
Sycamorechaz, friend of my boyfriend.

5. What other guilds have you been in and why did you leave them? Do you currently have any other applications pending with other guilds?
Lunar Ecplise is the only one that you would know of I think. It disbanded before but came back. But I didnt want to go back with them since I was in a guild with friend who later on also got disbanded.
I am not applying for any other guilds atm.

6. Tell us what special qualities you will bring to Forsaken Enlightenment.
I don't know about anything special. But I am good at what I do. And most importantly I don't have any rage issues.

7. Are you interested in becoming a social or raiding member of Forsaken Enlightenment, if social thank you for your application, if raiding please complete the next section.

Questions for raiders only:

What is your raiding spec and your duel spec if you have one, which do you prefer to play and why?
I am a fire mage, I tried out arcane but a 1 button rotation just didnt do it for me. Can't wait till we get further into Cata for more crit so Fire mages actually get really good again. Happy

How do you keep yourself up to date on the latest developments of your class? Do you visit any websites for this?
I don't. I listen to advice from anyone who can give it to me. If I hear changes I look them up of course. Wowwiki I usually use. sometimes go to the WoW Forums.

Comment on your talents and glyphs. Why did you choose them? What do you think of other builds of your class? Why didn't you choose one of those?
I have spent talent points a bit differently then other fire mages. I have mostly been focusing on talents to make it easy for myself and how I play. I am always open for suggestions aslong as I understand the reson why those changes should be made.

Do you have control of your own time i.e. if you sign and are selected for a raid can you guarantee (disasters and acts of god permitting) that you will be available until raid end time.
The raid times should not be a problem for me, my friend Chaz said it was between 20.00 and 23.00. I am always making sure I got time for the raids I sign up for.

When are you usually available for raiding (specific days of the week and preferred hours) have you taken note of our raiding days and do they fit into your schedule?
I am very flexible about raiding times. Should not be a problem.

What add-ons do you like to use for raids?
I use the basic ones like Omen for a threatmeter, DBM. That's about it. I don't like using too many because it feels too much like cheating and relying on add-ons to do the work for you.

What raiding experience do you have and what role has this been in?
Well raiding in Cata I have done BH of course. I have not done anything in BoT, except trashruns. In Tot4W I have been puging, giving the conclave a a try. Didn't gt them down. In BWD I have only gotten the first boss down whilst in a pug. We tried second but didn't get that far because of a tank that had to leave.

What raids do you believe you are geared for?
Well I am sure I am geared for BWD, I am not entirely sure on what gear requirements there are on the different raids.

Have you tried and/or completed any raid achievements and hard modes? What do you think of them and would you like to try more in the future?
No I have not.

Some difficult scenarios

An Officer or fellow member offers you some advice on how to improve your play, be it through rotations, talents or gem and enchant suggestions, how do you feel?
I gladly accept any help to make my game play more enjoyable! I would feel really happy if someone would take a moment to help me out if there is something I did wrong.

An item that you desperately want drops you register your interest but the loot council awards it to another player as is it a bigger upgrade or their attendance has been better, how do you react?
I don't really want in because of the loot. I miss raiding and the only reason I want gear is to be able to do more raids really. I really just want in for the experience. But of course it is fun to see your character become stronger, who doesn't like that? :P

In order to balance a raid for an encounter or because there are far to many signs the raidleader places you on standby for the second time running, but another member of your class is in the raid for the third time in a row. What do you do?
If I feel treated badly then I would ask of course. I am sure there would be good reasons but I would like to so I don't feel it to be unfair.

After a heavy night of raiding another member makes a comment about your performance which may not be called for, how do you react?
Depends. Of course, if it is uncalled for who wouldn't be upset. I wouldn't like it but I am not the person to start a fight.

We are wiping..... all night...... getting the raid and the tactics right, your repair bill is going through the roof and not much progression is happening, how do you feel?
Some days are just bad days. Can't ask for perfection all the time.

She isn't from England so ofc she doesn't know that fool xD. Seems a decent app and I like how she doesn't like one button boredom arcane that just makes it a yes from me tbh lol. Fire ftw!

Hi there! Nice application, do you have any preference to 10 or 25 man, as we are going through some changes at the moment and may be running 10 man teams.

Are we to understand, that you play differently than other fire mages and if so, then isnt this something special that you bring to the guild?
Fire mages have soft haste cap. Have you heard this and if you have do you know what these/this caps are/is?

We have also recently decided that all members on initiate (Raider application) are expected to have 100% attendance (whether you are standby or not.) Until your trial is completed, this means 3/3 raids per week. Hope this suits and is a condition of acceptance.

All of what I've heard about the raid times is perfectly fine by me. About the size of that raid I really don't mind if it's a 10 man one or not.
Also as a reply for Hievna, I don't use different rotations than other fire mages. I have only slight changes in my talent trees then what I have seen other mages do. I did not know about that haste cap, I would really like to more know though!
And I just need to ask one thing; who is Harry?

All casters have a soft haste cap, with DOT's you basically can haste cap to get additional ticks.

See here for the theorycraft! http://elitistjerks.com/f75/t110326-cataclysm_fire_mage_compendium/#Haste:_Additional_DOT_Ticks

When players use the term "Soft Haste Cap" - they most commonly are referring to the amount of Haste rating required from gear to reach +12.5% Haste raid buffed in the most common scenario: With 3/3 Netherwind Presence and the 5% Raid Haste Buff. This value is 516, when LB / Pyroblast (Dot) and FFB (Dot) gain one additional tick.

Players may also use the "Haste Cap" term for a variety of other applications. For example, the term "Second Combustion Soft Cap" would refer to 15% Haste - which is the Haste value needed to gain a second additional tick of Combustion.

Other than that welcome to the Guild, I look forward to raiding with you on Sunday, poke an Officer a /w ingame for your invite.

Harry is the spawn of satan, and immature ex guild member and former mates of chaz, he is a bad person. Don't worry about him.

Welcome to the guild and look forward to seeing you in action.
