re: Twurp Dk blood tank & Legolasihn Warrior prot - DECLINED

Hey, this will be a joint application for Twurp (DK blood tank) and Legolasihn (Protection warrior), Written by Twurp.

1. What is your name, age and location?
Twurp: My name is Callum, I'm 18 (soon to be 19) and living in England.
Legolasihn: Name is Adrian, He's 17 and living in Norway.

2. What is your characters name, level, class, spec and professions? (please provide us with a link to your armoury.)
Twurp: Well the name is twurp, level 80 Death Knight tank, with maxed Jewel crafting and alchemy. Chosen Jewel crafting for the stamina bonuses and Alchemy for the + HP from flasks and the extra duration works well for raiding. http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Emerald+Dream&cn=Twurp

Legolasihn: His characters name is Legolasihn, level 80 warrior with Protection spec. His professions are Jewelcrafting and Mining.
http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Emerald+Dream&cn=Legolasihn

3. Why are you applying to Forsaken Enlightenment and what are your expectations from the guild?
We are applying because we are looking for a stable raiding guild after our last broke up, we have tanked together for quite a while and are now very comfortable with each other, we're kinda like man and wife, I know what he'll do, he knows what I'll do. This is why we are applying together.
We expect to find what we are looking for, we realise this guild has been going for a while so we expect it to be pretty stable, and hopefully not too much of the drama. As for raiding, we'll take what we can get, we havn't had much choices but we're hoping for some high-end raiding.

4. Do you know any current Guild member and how did you hear about us?
I believe Lego has been discussing with Tethane, otherwise we don't know any.
We heard about you from tedious searching, since our last guild broke up it's been extremely hard to find a guild that needs two tanks, we've scoured this server and several others, so this is how we arrived here.

5. What other guilds have you been in and why did you leave them? Do you currently have any other applications pending with other guilds?
Twurp: First ever guild was "Over in an instance" several years ago.
Second was "The stonemansons" in The burning crusade, I joined as it was being formed so it wasn't too great back then.
Third was "Antisocial" which was my first step into hardcore raiding, we managed to clear everything including Sarth3D long before Ulduar.
Fourth was "Bridgeburners" about a month after the release of Ulduar, got a couple Realm first Hardmodes with them but quit shortly after due to Issues in real life. (This was on my ex-main Sque).
Fifth was "Deliverance", very good guild but disbanded due to lazy leaders just after the release of ICC.
Legolasihn: Renaissance in vanilla, and Deliverance in TBC and Wotlk.

6. Tell us what special qualities you will bring to Forsaken Enlightenment.
We hope to bring our own brand of mindless dedication, sprinkled with a little teamwork. We're the type of people who would be willing to wipe for hours on end, with the exclusion of excessive dumb mistakes of-course.

Questions for raiders only:

What is your raiding spec and your duel spec if you have one, which do you prefer to play and why?

Twurp: Blood tank raiding spec, able to handle both AoE and single target fine with this spec. Duel spec is Unholy DPS, I never use it, I hate DPSing, and I'm never asked to use it.
Legolasihn: Protection main spec, Dual spec is Fury DPS. Much prefer to play prot, but more than adequate at DPSing too.

How do you keep yourself up to date on the latest developments of your class? Do you visit any websites for this?
Well I pretty much constantly refresh mmo-champion and the blue tracker for any news, and simply google anything I'm curious about or feel I don't know enough about. I'm pretty nerdy so you'll often catch me reading up on the lore, or how the mathematics in general work within WoW. Lego also spends time researching but isn't as dedicated to it as I would be, so I frequently relay information back to him from what I've found.

Comment on your talents and glyphs. Why did you choose them? What do you think of other builds of your class? Why didn't you choose one of those?
Twurp: My spec is pretty much the "Cookie cutter spec", picking up the great talents with mostly everything else being a filler to get me to the ones I need. There are several variations of the Blood spec, I've tried most and find I prefer this one, but the difference between each is slight anyway. My glyphs are again pretty Cookie cutter, there's not a huge amount of choice so mine are what most tanks will use, apart from maybe the Glyph of Death and Decay, this stacks with the Two piece T10 effect.
Legolasihn: The reason for his Glyphs, in his words "Simply what I benefit the most from". Pretty Cookie cutter talents spec, with added Deep wounds to help Rogues DPS.

Do you have control of your own time i.e. if you sign and are selected for a raid can you guarantee (disasters and acts of god permitting) that you will be available until raid end time.
Yes, we both own our own computers and can make all raids, although I (Twurp) can have problems making Wednesdays because my girlfriend visits me, but if there is something important like ICC, I can make exceptions.

When are you usually available for raiding (specific days of the week and preferred hours) have you taken note of our raiding days and do they fit into your schedule?
We can attend them all, but Twurp cannot attend 'Every' Wednesday.

What add-ons do you like to use for raids?
Twurp: Spartan UI, Skada damage/threat metre, Tidy (threat) plates, AG_UF, Bartender, BuffEnough, Classtimer, Chatter, Hero (an addon that I modified myself), Tanktotals, Ora3, Deadlybossmods.
Legolasihn: Deadly boss mods, Omen, Tauntmaster, Tidyplates.

What raiding experience do you have and what role has this been in?
Twurp: My main was a Shadow priest named Sque, on Sque my progress is...Kara, Gruul, Magtheridon, Zul'aman, upto third boss in SSC, Naxx10/25, Sarth10/25, sarth 3D 10/25, Malygos10/25, Ulduar10/25 (With several hardmodes done in both, a few realm firsts too I beleive). On Twurp :ToC10/25, ToCG10 4/5, ICC10 Upto putricide (he was at 20%, and lastly, first 4 bosses in ICC25.

Legolasihn: Cleared Vanilly, Everything upto Illidan in TBC, Upto putricide on 10 man ICC and first four in 25 man ICC.

What raids do you believe you are geared for?
Right now, we should be geared for all except maybe heroic mode ICC, buying some more of the crafted items very soon too.

Have you tried and/or completed any raid achievements and hard modes? What do you think of them and would you like to try more in the future?
Yes, see raiding experience for hardmodes. We love hardmodes, and quite frankly, doing our best to be the best, We would most defiantly like some more under our belt.

Some difficult scenarios

An Officer or fellow member offers you some advice on how to improve your play, be it through rotations, talents or gem and enchant suggestions, how do you feel?
I have no idea why this would be a problem to anyone. Therefore confused to what my emotion would be at that time, so I'd have to say Indifferent.

An item that you desperately want drops from ICC 25 you register your interest but the loot council awards it to another player as is it a bigger upgrade or their attendance has been better, how do you react?
Indifferent, it will drop again and all upgrades are relatively minimal, excluding certain trinkets and Heroic items. We'd probably make a joke about it.

In order to balance a raid for an encounter or because there are far to many signs the raidleader places you on standby for the second time running, but another member of your class is in the raid for the third time in a row. What do you do?

Alt tab out of WoW with sound turned up so I can hear whispers, nothing else really to do.

After a heavy night of raiding another member makes a comment about your performance which may not be called for, how do you react?
Depends if he/she is correct or not, If they are correct, apologise or give an explination, if they are wrong, explain how they are wrong.

We are wiping..... all night...... getting the raid and the tactics right, your repair bill is going through the roof and not much progression is happening, how do you feel?
I'm sitting at 28k gold now so repair bills are no problem, Lego is at about 4k (he spent 20k on legs and boots).
We like getting things right, why would we give up? things only go wrong when people do things wrong, correct them, if they do not improve then it is obvious that they shouldn't be raiding.

PS: I'd love to have written more, but writing for myself and Lego at the same time has confused me in some parts, I've probably mistakenly wondered around in different perspectives throughout this post too, be warned!

Just out of interest chaps - and based on your raiding background - just how much raiding are you looking for, what are your expectations?

Thank you both for your applications, I am bumping this to the Officer forums, as it is a 2 tank application I am also referring this to our Officers meeting on Thursday for discussion, we want to ensure you get as much out of joining FE as we do from having you in our ranks!

Well we we're doing great at the start of ICC with deliverance, then it disbanded and we were hoping to get back into a hardcore raiding guild, but we don't like joining guilds. It's just difficult and takes time to settle in and we don't simply want to keep doing that. So we decided to find one together, but after several months, no guilds want two tanks. So to get to the point, right now we're not too fussed about the progress because all that we have now is from PuGs. We're willing to invest our time when needed. So yeah I'm presuming you're thinking "Oh they're going to be elitist assholes that will leave in a week", well, we're nice!

No presumption about "elitist assholes" at all - apologies if it came across that way. Just thought it was a fair question , which you have now answered.

Thanks a lot for the decent and spell checked application but I have one question.

Previously in the guild we have had "man and wife" characters that raided with us and both would not participate in the raid if one of them was not chosen for a raid. If one of you were to not get chosen for a raid maybe because we were full on tanking positions what would be your reaction to this?

Well, that happened to us in Deliverance and we're used to it. But me (Lego) has a dps spec with pretty decent gear so if possible to join as dps that would be great (For that raid). But if you were full on both dps and tank, we wouldn't mind sitting out the raid, as long as we don't end up in the routine we had in Deli. I had a problem there, because I was simply benched for 3-5 weeks because we had tanks that they would rather use, and as long as that doesn't happen, we don't really mind.

But now that you mention it, doesn't that basically say that you only need 1 of us at any given time, or am I just misunderstanding?

I think he is meaning would you come to a raid if lego was not picked for it? or would you come to seperate raid groups if needed etc? and Vice Versa. So you tank raid group 1 and Lego tanks raid group 2.

Of course we would, but we're better if you put us together since we know each others every move and we have tanked together for 6 months, but if you want us to come to separate raids or bench one of us, sure, we don't mind!

Awesome, thanks for the reply as we have had members in the past that refuse to raid if they are not raiding together. I just wanted to clarify if this was going to be an issue with you but it is clearly not.

Lego was the one who wrote the last two comments by the way.
This is Twurp, and yeah we don't mind if one gets benched, the main reason why we want to join together is just because it's so much easier to settle in with a friend, getting to know 25 new people can be tough and it just makes things easier.
And then ofcourse it's easier to have a partner you get along with.
So to answer the question, we really don't mind if you bench one and take the other, we won't get angry or anything like that, we just wouldn't want it to be such a frequent ocurrence.

Firstly I would like to apologise for how long it has taken for me to respond. After much discussion with the Officers we unfortunately will not be able to offer you both a place within FE, I shall attempt to give you a through reason for our decision.

Our main concern is that this was a joint application for 2 tanks, joint applications are hard at the best of times but with 2 skilled/geared tanks both with a desire to raid frequently we just don't think we would be able to accommodate you both. We debated this quite a lot within the Officer circle and it boiled down to not being able to offer you the kind of regularity you desire in our 25 man team, most of the comments were "Oh why did it have to be 2!!!" Obviously with ICC25 we want a regular core of players to clear the content and swapping you both in and out for encounters could possibly be detrimental to the raid group as well as pretty annoying for you!

I know that you have mentioned here that it would be to much of a problem, but from my experience the resentment of being benched/not raiding together can build up to a awkward situation culminating in annoyance and guild quitting and I just don't want that to happen (for my sanity as much as anything else!)

You are both great guys and I enjoyed our little team up the other week, I want to wish you all the luck with finding a suitable home for you both. This was a super hard desision to make.
