all you lucky people, that live away from where i live, are so lucky you don't have to put up with mazey day, its a once a year celibration in my town and this is what my town becomes
The funny thing, is the streets are filled with torist, the locals all stay away, apart from the locals that take part.
The day also always falls on or around my birthday, and on my 10th birthday my mum made me dance and take part in order to get my birthday present, never like the day since

So for one day in the year your people use make-up and gain some intelligence?! Good for you.

Yeah did that in Den Bosch this year, where everybody was in costume. So cool. Big difference with our carnaval is that it involves young people as well. This looks like an grown-up dress-up party with Jonny leading the sect.

Hmm this is a happy-happy-joy-joy-post. That does not really count, because the joy-joy-part (where the police roughly knocks out the little children) isn't shown.
Anybody ever heared of Keukenhof? http://www.keukenhof.nl/ Nearly a million people (german, chinees etc) come to our village in a period of a few weeks.
But the biggest event in Holland is definitely "Koninginnedag". http://www.depers.nl/binnenland/543154/Adam-wil-rustige-Koninginnedag.html Translated into English: Queens Day. On the day of april 30 the Dutch do not have to work and all gather in Amsterdam and other major city's. A million extra peeps in Amsterdam would be a minimum. For those with a historical interest: it's not the birthday of our current queen, but her mother I believe.
