Questions for all applicants:

1. What is your name, age and location?
Josh Furnell. 18. Northampton, England.

2. What is your characters name, level, class, spec and professions? Also list any alt's (please provide us with a link to your armoury.)
Ballsmashed, 85, Protection paladin. Mining and Blacksmithing. http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/emerald-dream/Ballsmashed/simple. I have no Alts of interest. A level 31 Resto Druid named Druixed and a 52 MM hunter named Lycanstein.

3. Why are you applying to Forsaken Enlightenment and what are your expectations from the guild?
As I recently started playing WoW again after a break over a long period of time, raiding is a fairly new environment to me. Being unable to join most raids in cataclysm due to my experience. However for me, joining a secure raiding guild I think will give me that experience.

4. Do you know any current Guild member and how did you hear about us?
Dhorbur and Surgera/ Nestle were leaders in my last guild and are both also close out of game friends. They told me your guild was interested in a tank.

5. What other guilds have you been in and why did you leave them? Do you currently have any other applications pending with other guilds?
<Slow Ward> Was my previous guild. Management sold to another player and I felt that my place would no longer be in <Slow Ward>

6. Tell us what special qualities you will bring to Forsaken Enlightenment.
I have a wide sense of humour and am a very sociable person. I enjoy making people laugh. Also though, when it comes to raiding, I am very serious and try my hardest to make sure everybody knows what they are doing, and am always willing to help those who need help.

7. Are you interested in becoming a social or raiding member of Forsaken Enlightenment, if social thank you for your application, if raiding please complete the next section. I am interested in becoming a Raiding Member of Forsaken Enlightenment.

Questions for raiders only:

What is your raiding spec and your duel spec if you have one, which do you prefer to play and why?
My raiding Spec is protection and my duel spec is Retribution. I prefer playing Protection due to the fact I know how to use it, and know the rotation well.

How do you keep yourself up to date on the latest developments of your class? Do you visit any websites for this?
I always check out official patch notes and learn if there are any noteable changes.

Comment on your talents and glyphs. Why did you choose them? What do you think of other builds of your class? Why didn't you choose one of those?
My current build, in my opinion is brilliant. It's simple and straight forward, and brings me all the useful skills, spells and moves I believe benifit my class. My glyphs also the same, I believe benifit my class greatly helping me do damage and keep aggro as a tank is supposed to do.

Do you have control of your own time i.e. if you sign and are selected for a raid can you guarantee (disasters and acts of god permitting) that you will be available until raid end time.
I am totally dedicated to raiding, and believe in always turning up on time and staying the entire way through. It is a very rare occurance that something should happen for me to need to step away or be unavaliable.

When are you usually available for raiding (specific days of the week and preferred hours) have you taken note of our raiding days and do they fit into your schedule?
I am available for raiding most days of the week, if not all. I have taken account of your days and times wednesday, sunday and monday, all from 20:00 to 23:00 and can find no reason why those days would not fit into my schedule.

What add-ons do you like to use for raids?
Deadly Boss Mods and recount are the two main Add-ons I use although Omen also comes in handy from time to time however I never really have much need for Omen.

What raiding experience do you have and what role has this been in?
My raiding experience is quite minimal. However I have experience in BlackWing decent and Bastion of Twilight as a tank. Fireland's has never really been an option for me as only recently starting playing again near towards the end of 4.2. However, I know all the tactics for firelands and believe given a group of raiders who also know what they are doing I could quite easily clear it. I have currently downed 4 bosses in raid finder of Dragonsoul and 1 boss in ten man.

What raids do you believe you are geared for?
I believe I am geared enough for all current raids.

Have you tried and/or completed any raid achievements and hard modes? What do you think of them and would you like to try more in the future?
I have tried many raid achievements and hard modes, however completion is a different story as it is hard to find a reliable PuG group. However I would love to try these in a secure raiding guild.

We require 100% signs for your trial period, will this be acceptable?
Yes
Some difficult scenarios

An Officer or fellow member offers you some advice on how to improve your play, be it through rotations, talents or gem and enchant suggestions, how do you feel?
As I am still fairly new to the class only playing for a few months, I feel advice on improving is always welcome and apprieciated.

An item that you desperately want drops you register your interest but the loot council awards it to another player as is it a bigger upgrade or their attendance has been better, how do you react?
I congratulate the other player and express jokingly how jealous I am but I am glad they recieved the upgrade.

In order to balance a raid for an encounter or because there are far to many signs the raidleader places you on standby for the second time running, but another member of your class is in the raid for the third time in a row. What do you do?
I accept the raid leaders decision. Yes I will be greatly dissapointed that I have been placed on standby however other people must be given a chance.

After a heavy night of raiding another member makes a comment about your performance which may not be called for, how do you react?
I really dislike confrontation and tend to avoid it. I will simply state that I will take in what they are saying and apoligise if they feel my performance was not at its best.

We are wiping..... all night...... getting the raid and the tactics right, your repair bill is going through the roof and not much progression is happening, how do you feel?
I understand this happens alot, sometimes mistakes can be made, or sometimes people are not performing at their best which is not always their fault. I will get slightly annoyed at the fact not much progression is happening but understand raiding happens 3 days a week, and just because one day has gone wrong, doesn't mean there won't be a massive amount of improvement the next raiding day.

Not a bad app the name is kinda sucky tho lol but its not the worst I have seen :D,

Gear is quite easy to get atm, I've just got my DK geared in like 2 days and I can go into all random dungeons now including new ones, thats whilst raiding sun and mon and doing rogue legendary quest so thats no problem, but how would you say you are at listening and learning fast also reaction times and using your own common sense, I know thats quite a lot but I want to start up a 10man DS group so if you cant get into the 25man, would you be happy with that?.

But I do like people who can think for themselves I give out basic tactics normally and don't hand hold people, Generally letting them work out what to do and use their own brain power (normally works, well did when I ran ICC10mans).

I do apoligise about my name. It was simply a personal joke between myself and Dhorbur. I have never recieved any complaints about my name, and there was always a great deal of laughter about my name during guild chat beforehand.

I am always eager to learn and always sit and pay attention if I don't know what i'm doing. Which is rare since youtube is my best friend for tactics. As for reaction times, it mostly depends on the computer i'm playing. I have 2 in my household one being a laptop and the other a shared desktop. As you can imagine being on the laptop can sometimes cause reaction times to be a little slower. But when on the desktop, in my opinion, I'm quite fast with my reactions. But I would be just as happy with joining a ten man group as I would the 25 man group.

quality name.

Couple minor points:
No enchant on cloak and gloves.

no hit and low expertise - not sure how much this matters with the 500% threat bonus.

You need to max blacksmith as it gives 2 additional gem sockets as a starter

You should do LFR as it can give you a chance of some loot upgrades as well as some rudimentary experience in DS raid.

we are short on dedicated tanks - though we do have a lot of tank apps now.

Like Peter said, the name is something that I would not use.

Why you have?
- 3 empty glyph slots
- 2 unenchanted items
- no Hit & exp caps

Mmo champ guide says that these are not needed, but elitist jerks says you need these. I do not play paladin, so I would like some info about this.

Right, I can answer all of these easily and simply.
My 3 empty glyth spots are from my minor glyphs, which for a paladin, are just plain un-important. All minor glyphs simply reduce mana costs of buffs or seals when used, which poses really no sort of advantage to me in the slightest.
The un-enchanted items I understand are a problem. At that's simply due to the fact being a tank, being low on gold is always a problem, however, it won't take me long to aquire mats for these enchants. I can probably get both enchanted by the end of this current day.
Hit and expertise caps? I've alwys come to understand that these are completly useless for paladin tanks. Our main skills we are meant to focus on are mastery, stamina, dodge and parry. for Protection, Mastery increases our block rating dramatically, and is our most important. Our goal is to get this capped not expertise or hit.
One of my prime glyphs "glyph of seal of truth" is a reccommended must have glyph on noxxic.com for my class. Which grants expertise while active.

As for maxing my proffessions. I understand this is something I need to do. But have always been plain for focussed on the other more important aspects of the game.

But if no-one learns their professions that would be huge miss of stats and that would make raid progress even harder. Not to mention that we would not have cauldrons, nor raid-food.

Oh well, since we are missing tanks and you are also ready to go Peter's Death Squad a.k.a. 10-man, I would say yes for a trial.

One thing i will say about minor glyphs, is that the mana decrease when using certain buffs can be useful in raid fights where combat rez's are needed and people need to be rebuffed in fight. Same deal as what Eluniel said about the professions, even if it only increases your health by 1-2k, or your dodge/parry by 1%, thats 1% less chance that a fatal blow will kill you during a soft enrage on a boss, or during a massive amount of damage. Just remember that if you get into the 25man! The damage during heroic modes can be intense to a tank.

Either way, good application, willingless shown to improve in the application, so yeah, i say give him a trial!

Please take note of what people have said about professions. Everyone is quite happy in LFR and 10 man encounters and I think applies the mechanics/damage output unrealistically to 25 man, I have done all 3 and the scaling in 25 man is ridiculous in comparison, having your character in the best condition possible is essential, much like I wouldn't take a ungemmed/unenchanted player raiding the same really applies to professions.

Now to the important stuff and a little bit of cut and paste if you will forgive me! The only issue I have is our 25 man raid squad is pretty full at the moment, however we will be breaking for xmas soon and will probably re evaluate the raid groups in the new year, splitting 10 out into a core 10 man group to run DS on a regular basis, along side our 25 man team. If holding out as standby on the remaining raids this year and being a bit patient with us evaluating/splitting raiders out to a 10 man group if ok with you then I would be happy to offer to a trial spot in FE.

The other thing is that as a tank I will require you to have a well geared OS and be prepared to play it, gone are the 3 or 4 tank days, obviously having an option of tanks to play per encounter is useful for me on 25 man (class specific) but I cant have this at the cost of lots of tasty dps.

Welcome to the guild please read the last part of this page and if you have any more questions just give me a shout.

You haven't logged in signed or showed for some raids you were selected for since your application was accepted, I am therefore failing your trial. Please feel free to bump here is you wish to be reconsidered.

Many thanks
