re: Rogue apply - Bascillia - ACCEPTED

Questions for all applicants:

1. What is your name, age and location?
My name is Jeroen, 40 years of age and live in the Netherlands

2. What is your characters name, level, class, spec and professions? (please provide us with a link to your armoury.)
My character is Bascillia, level 80 female human rogue. I have dual specialisation, main specc is assassination, working on 2nd specc for combat. My professions are mining 450 and jewelcrafting 450. http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Emerald+Dream&cn=Bascillia

3. Why are you applying to Forsaken Enlightenment and what are your expectations from the guild?
Main reason to apply is that I want to experience the game together with my rl friend Sander (Adnachiël) and his girlfriend. We do play wow together often at my place or his. It would be very nice if we also could raid together and not only sit next to eachother watching eachothers screens wink Second reason is that I want to experience this nice game to the fullest, even high-end raiding.

4. Do you know any current Guild member and how did you hear about us?
I do know Adnachiël and Sandiey. I heared of your guild from them.

5. What other guilds have you been in and why did you leave them? Do you currently have any other applications pending with other guilds?
With this character I've been in the Outlaws Torn (horde). A very nice raiding guild on the horde side. Reason to leave (after few years) is that I wanted to play with my friend together, so changed factions. It was hard to leave the guild, but rl friends always comes first. I do have some other charcters aswell... but this is my main.

6. Tell us what special qualities you will bring to Forsaken Enlightenment.
Good things are always hard to say about yourself, but I think I am a nice person, social and friendly. Loyal and focussed when needed. I like to help when other are in need. At least, this is what I've heared from others. Perhaps they can say a few good words for me here...wink

7. Are you interested in becoming a social or raiding member of Forsaken Enlightenment, if social thank you for your application, if raiding please complete the next section.
I would realy like to raid.

Questions for raiders only:

What is your raiding spec and your duel spec if you have one, which do you prefer to play and why?
My main specc is assassination, 2nd specc will be combat again. For me assassination has proven to be the best way to get the highest dps on raid bosses and that is (together with focus and tactics) the one thing a raid might expect of a rogue. I've been playing both speccs quite often. Combat specc will sometimes be used for some heroics or pvp.

How do you keep yourself up to date on the latest developments of your class? Do you visit any websites for this?
Ofc I learn from things I see in game, but I do visit some websites like ShadowPanther and the official Blizzard fora and sites. Also I like to check boss tactics out on different websites likes Tankspot and BossKillers. And many more...

Comment on your talents and glyphs. Why did you choose them? What do you think of other builds of your class? Why didn't you choose one of those?
I've choosen the assassination tree for a couple of reasons. For me it works te best on getting the highest dps on bosses. I like my character using daggers and this is the best tree to do that. My combat specc is mostly for using swords and axes, doing more 'AoE' damage or going pvp (little higher burst damage). I've been playing both speccs and seen many other rogues do different speccs... I think players should choose the specc that fit them the most.

Do you have control of your own time i.e. if you sign and are selected for a raid can you guarantee (disasters and acts of god permitting) that you will be available until raid end time.
When I sign up for a raid, I always will come and stay till the end, unless something nasty happens at home ofc. I was very lucky to join your raid on ICC25 yesterday and hope to do so many more times.

When are you usually available for raiding (specific days of the week and preferred hours) have you taken note of our raiding days and do they fit into your schedule?
I have to work on different hours/shifts, but I can raid quite often on any day of the week from 20.00h CET till 00.30h (or sometimes even later).

What add-ons do you like to use for raids?
I use the following specificaly for raiding:
- Omen
- Recount
- DBM
- EPGP
and others to adjust my UI and stuff

What raiding experience do you have and what role has this been in?
I've played this game for the past 5 years now and have been raiding ever since my first character reached level 60. At that time it was as a healer (priest) in MC and BWL. I helped killing Illidan multiple times at level 70 as melee dps and that is the way I've been raiding ever since. My current progress as a player is 10/12 in ICC (downed), never downed Sindy or LK unfortunately.

What raids do you believe you are geared for?
Geared for ICC10/25 and RS (at least.... that is what WoW Heroes tells me wink, perhaps some hc versions (done gunship hc). I have good gear, not great (see armory link above plz)

Have you tried and/or completed any raid achievements and hard modes? What do you think of them and would you like to try more in the future?
I've done quite a few hardmodes in Ulduar and like to do raid achievements. In my former guild we did get the legendary mace for our paladin together i.e. I would love to do that in the future aswell.

Some difficult scenarios

An Officer or fellow member offers you some advice on how to improve your play, be it through rotations, talents or gem and enchant suggestions, how do you feel?
We should all learn from eachother and our faults. Gladly accept any comments on my char or gameplay if it helps improve it.

An item that you desperately want drops from ICC 25 you register your interest but the loot council awards it to another player as is it a bigger upgrade or their attendance has been better, how do you react?
Always happy to see others get the loot they need. As a guild and a raid team you need to do what is in the best interest for the group, not the individual. All will get what they deserve in time. (Realy looking forward to the upcomming expansion with guild achievements and leveling) Guild progress is my progress aswell...

In order to balance a raid for an encounter or because there are far to many signs the raidleader places you on standby for the second time running, but another member of your class is in the raid for the third time in a row. What do you do?
I take it it's done for a reason by the raidleaders and gladly sign up for the next raid and be ready again.

After a heavy night of raiding another member makes a comment about your performance which may not be called for, how do you react?
I wish to talk to that player in a mature way... if not possible at that time I will take some time off, giving myself and the player some time to settle down and try to talk to him/her about it the next day. If a problem stays I will try to contact an officer, but aren't we all mature...?

We are wiping..... all night...... getting the raid and the tactics right, your repair bill is going through the roof and not much progression is happening, how do you feel?
Whiping = learning. You can't simply expect things to come easy. As long as you learn from your mistakes, it's still progress in my opinion. Gold is there for repairs etc. I'll just farm another hour to get the gold back wink

For now I wish you all the very best and hope to cya all in-game wink Good Luck!

P.s. I also have Ventrilo installed on all of my pc's. Just to let ya know... /bye

... Look behind ya.... perhaps I am there...should u survive...

We are actually on a raiding break for 2 weeks due to the summer, when we start back though we have 4 raiding rogues which means that rogue spots are limited. Priority is given to those that sign for all 3 raiding nights as you probably have read and invites to 25 man are at 19:45 which means if you did show at 20:00 (gametime) you would not receive ontime EP.

You application is nice but why WHY the blue on a blue background lol, if I wasn't feeling dizzy enough all ready that has just sent me into overdrive (bit ill atm.)

I would be more than happy to accept you as a social member but offer you raid invites, although you do have to understand they MAY be limited because of the reasons above!

Hiya,

Thnx for your quick response... I ofc understand that raid spots are perhaps filled atm and that there most probably won't be a spot for me every time. Just wanted to say that I'm there if u need me and that hopefully in the future there will be a spot for me every now and then. If I have to start as a casual raider and social member...then that is fine with me. Application form asked if I wanted to be a raider... and yes... that is what I want... but I'll know my place and take only the turns that are granted to me... wink

And uh... most of the time I can be online @ 19.30h... just said 20.00h to be safe, but still... if I sign up... I'll be on time.... promiss...

/Greetz again wink

I like the response but your app colour sucks! I had to select the whole thing to try read it, and at 2am its hard on my eyes .

Well social always open, and as you went with Johnny on the 25man pug, stuff like that happens every so often cos johnny needs his raids or he goes all wrinkly and his real age shows through! so even if you dont get picked for the main 25man probably be another raid sometime in the week.

Hi,

As the only other rogue in the pug run the other night I'll certainly echo Johnny's comments.

There is one thing that puzzled me though seeing as this is a raider app, your Assassination spec was something like 54/10/7 rather than the normal 51/18/2 or even the slightly older 51/13/7.

Any particular reason for that as it is certainly not a spec I've ever come across either in game or on Rogue specific sites eg. Shadowpanther, a site which you mention in your application as using as a reference area.

The specc I have is surely based on the 1 given on shadowpanther, but I and some guild rogues and rogue friends have looked at it quite often end tried slightly different speccs aswell.

Ofc I'm willing to give a full explanaition on ventrilo sometime, but if I have to do it on this subject, then it would take me quite some time now.

In short:
I traded the 5 points of CQC to the 3 in TTT. It gives me about the same extra crit when we are in raid and getting a higher crit would be a waste since the crit chance already exeeds the max on mutilate specc. The points in extra haste I've traded for extra energy regain. My speedfactor is very high cause of haste rating on gear, buffs and S'nD. No need for an extra haste compared to the extra energy I will gain from this specc. I just now need to make more combo's, more clicks... much like combat specc... and that's the way I like it.

This is very very short... Would love to discuss this on vent... always looking to improve myself and others (if they wish).

As far as websites are concerned: I (and many other player) don't always blindly follow the tips other ppl write, but I do try them out and see if things work for me aswell and discuss this with friends/guildies. I.e. The specc on SP is very old already... not much updated with the new gear etc. It was the best specc when we entered WotLK and works fine now in raid and outside raids. My specc is solely for raiding.. considering extra buffs etc.

I'll stop now wink otherwise it will be a big post... Again... I will gladly discuss this with u if u wish...

Greetz,

/Bascillia

Thats cool.

It just puzzled me in the pug as like i said I had never come across that particular spec before at all.

In fact after I posted the earlier message I spent a little time searching for more info on that spec (work was slow!).

Cheers

Well from the recommendations from the other chaps, and the thoroughness of the app I think we should at least give him a shot tbh. As well as giving us more options for raiding nights (eg no shows etc) Jeroen seems to know the class well, showing willingness to research, and change from the norm, giving explanation as to why as well when questioned has impressed me tbh. So its a yup from me!
